Well, after 72 hours away from home I picked Steve up from the airport Tuesday night. To all those who had high hopes of us breaking out and moving away, better get over it fast! Steve has decided that he was leaving too much behind and not gaining as much in return. Luckily he works for and with great people who were thrilled to have him back at the FDIC. So as the saying goes, "be careful what you wish for, you just might get it." Also," the grass is always greener on the other side." I'd like to say that Steve couldn't stand the thought of being gone from me for longer than 72 hours, but he's proved that wrong plenty already with his FDIC job. But when you feel prompted to change your course you better follow your instincts.
I didn't even know he had changed his mind about the FBI until he was already at the airport! Steve spoke to my mom about it hours before I heard anything about second thoughts! Is that a little backward? It's not his fault, I worked Monday night and so I was sleeping when he made his decision and when Steve called my phone my mom answered. I wonder what I would have said and if it would have been such an easy decision for him if I was on the other side of the conversation instead of my mom who was all for us staying.... Not that I didn't want Steve home but I was kind of expecting a breakdown and I was preparing a pep talk. Oh well. He is VERY happy to be home and he is even taking a forced vacation to spend time with us at home until the 15th. He can't start back up with the FDIC until the start of a new pay period so he is taking some "unpaid leave of absence" from the FBI. We are happy to have a dad and a husband around, especially when we thought we wouldn't have him for so long.
All is not lost. I'm sure once things settle down we'll cook up another scheme to keep ourselves busy. We really enjoy getting ourselves into trouble with the adventures we plan... Stay tuned!

Whoa that is a change of plans! I'm glad to hear it though, I like that you'll be sticking around. Although...I was looking forward to an excuse for vacation. ;)
