Nauvoo

This past weekend we left Friday morning to head south to Nauvoo. It was amazing to see a part of the country that played such a pivotal role in Mormon History. We thought it would be warmer after driving 7 hours south and west, unfortunately we were out of luck. I don't think we saw the sun at all, but it didn't stop us from enjoying the wagon rides, the carriage rides, and exploring the pioneer homesites.

The temple is beautiful, and sits right over the Mississippi River.

This is the view from the temple.

Sorry, there's no sun to be seen, even though Brooke came prepared...

Look out! There's a new sheriff in town!

Sunday morning we headed to Carthage Jail to tour the site that Joseph Smith was martyred. It was a powerful experience, and a great ending to our road trip.
