We only have a limited number of weekends to enjoy the warm weather here in Appleton, and it seems like every Saturday is effected by rain. (Appleton had 8.7 inches of rain in the month of July!) But even though it was threatening this past Saturday as well, I wouldn't be put off. We loaded up the kids and headed to Milwaukee to enjoy their 200 acre zoo. With 200 acres they even have a lake in the middle of it!
There is a train, a sky ride, a carousel, and camel rides! The weather held out for us and we were able to enjoy our time in the 70's with overcast skies, which was PERFECT! Ryan loves the elephants and was most excited to see them.
Ben doesn't care for the zoo, never really has, but he said his favorite is the lion
The zoo has a great Dinosaur exhibit which I took Ryan to while Ben rode the train with Steve.
I love the learning that comes with seeing new animals! The kids soak up all this knowledge and they do it while having fun and not realizing how much they learn. We read almost all the signs, which included the name of the animal and at least one cool fact about it. Their favorite animal after all was said and done was the Vampire Bat exhibit, I wonder why...

That Zoo is so much fun! I think it is so cool how much you guys are trying to experience WI. I say next Summer we do some of that together!
