Last year Ben had a difficult time with the separation portion of preschool. I was worried about this year being a continuation, with him hugging my leg and trying to chase me while I left the classroom. My anxieties were confirmed. The poor kid was SO excited the whole morning and was thrilled to go to school. He was asking an hour early if it was time to go, and then every 10 min after that until I told him that it was time to get his shoes and socks on. He was then the first one to the garage and threatened that he would leave us behind if we didn't hurry. I took this video just before we got in the car.
Once we got to school, he was still excited, however you could see the transformation taking place. As soon as we got to the actual classroom he wouldn't go in. I had to go in with him and finally pass him off the the teacher's aide to restrain him while I left. He didn't ever actually scream, which I'm grateful for, but he had a few tears and a red face. His teacher Mrs Braunreiter assured me when I picked him up that he had a fine day after the first few minutes. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I am wondering if being at school everyday is good for him or not, at least it'll keep him on a consistant schedule and it'll be easy to make friends if he sees them every day, I hope...
While Ben was at school, Ryan and I were able to hang out at Target all morning, for shame! It was actually Ryan's idea, okay not totally, but he was very much on board once I mentioned it. I was able to buy some diapers in preparation for Brooke's arrival in 3 very short weeks and some additional mattress pads that we've needed since Ryan's promotion to a twin bed. Not that you need to know my shopping list, but I was justified for the trip. I want you all to know that, especially Steve... :)
So life in Wisconsin is turning out to be nice so far. Our temperatures have been topping out in the mid-70's and the boys and I have been getting along great with some friends that we've made in the ward. I even completed a play-group schedule for the rest of the year for the mom's in the ward. They might not have a need to get out of the house, but I sure do. Maybe this way I'll have some company. The only complaint I have is that Steve hasn't been here with me for the past week and a half. Luckily, that will be rectified in 3 days and we can live as a family once again. Here are some other pictures of our day today.
Ryan kept asking when he was going to go to school, I had to assure him that his school starts next week and he can go to school to.
Isn't he cute, he was still excited at this point.
